You already climb single pitch (top-rope) and are curious to discover climbs of greater magnitude, you want to learn the necessary techniques: build a belay stance, belay a second climber, abseil... You can learn more about those techniques on the 3-day climbing course: multi-pitch autonomy.

Program

The day before:
Briefing with the guide at 6:30 pm at the guides' office.

Day 1 Climbing school in Contamines-Montjoie

We will go to the "climbing school" site at the cliff of Duchère in Contamines-Montjoie. The goal of the day is to take learn how to manipulate the equipment and to discover the multi-pitch reflexes: install a belay stance, do some multi-pitch routes, install and abseil.

Day 2 Multi-pitch at Chamonix

Head to the Cheserys cliff, in the Aiguilles Rouges area of Chamonix, for a first major route. We will take the opportunity to see how to make an escape route, french free ...

Day 3 Multi-pitch handling

Practice on a longer multi-pitch in Aiguilles Rouges or the Aravis. We will see how to manage an entire multi-pitch route: choice of the path, reading the topo, approach, return...

Guides may have to modify the program according to weather conditions, mountain conditions and the level of the participants.

All the practical details about the 3-day Climbing course: multi-pitch autonomy

We propose three days to discover these techniques, on routes of 100 to 300m in an average level of 4 or 5. The choice of the routes will be adapted to the level of the participants.

You will be 2 people maximum per guide.
Knowledge increases our pleasure and emotions, via the many rope manipulations and belay devices.

Every Saturday from June to the end of September
Other dates possible upon request.

Guiding

4 people maximum per guide. You will be supervised by a mountain guide or a climbing instructor.

2023 rates

Price of the private formula:

1 participant: 1520€
2 participants: 820 € / person

The price includes:

  • 3 picnics
  • Supervision by a mountain guide
  • Lift passes

 

The price does not include:

  • Drinks and extras
  • Transportation from Saint Gervais to Les Contamines and Chamonix
  • Rental equipment
  • Anything that is not mentioned in "the price includes”

 

Requirements

This course is aimed at climbers in level 4+/5, leading, with a good physical condition. We are at your disposal to answer your questions.

You can register either in the "registration" section on this page, or by sending us the completed, dated and signed registration form accompanied by a 30% deposit and the amount of optional insurance.

Insurance

To be covered by an insurance «assistance-repatriation» is mandatory to participate in our stays. If you do not have «assistance-repatriation» insurance, we can offer you one at the price of €5/day. We also offer optional «cancellation» insurance at the price of €12/day. This insurance does not take into account the sporting character of our stays. Rendezvous

Appointment at 6.30 pm at the Saint-Gervais guides' office (in the tourist office of the village) where you will meet your guide. If you cannot be present, the briefing can be done by phone. More details about how to travel by public transportation can be found on our "contact" page.

  • Helmet (provided by the guide)
  • 25 / 30 Liters backpack
  • Two telescopic walking sticks with washers
  • Harness (provided by the guide)
  • Lanyard, descender, screw carabiner

Clothing:

  • scarf
  • Modern fiber underwear, long sleeves and short sleeves
  • Lighter fleece jacket or down hood for the bottom of the bag
  • 1 pair of small light gloves
  • Hiking pants suitable for climbing

 

Essential equipment:

  • Chalk bag
  • Sunglasses
  • Cap
  • Headlight and batteries
  • Sunscreen and very high protection lip screen
  • Thermos (0.5 L minimum), water bottle and energy bars
  • Small personal medicine kit (aspirin, second skins, dressings...)
