The day before - Appointment at 6.30 pm at the guides' office where you will meet your guide.

Day 1
Refuge Albert 1er
After an equipment check, we leave the village of Le Tour in the early afternoon to go with the cable car to Col de Balme (2,100 m). Overnight stay in the Albert 1er mountain hut (2,702 m). Difference in altitude: +602 m

Day 2
Trient plateau
Via the high Col du Tour (3281 m), the Trient plateau and the descent from the Orny glacier to the Breya chairlift (2401 m) to reach the village of Champex. Difference in altitude: + 579 m / - 880 m

Day 3
Cols et glaciers
Early in the morning a cab will drive you to Chanrion (2,462 m). Ascent to Col de la Tsofeiret (2,630 m), Col de la Lire rose (3,115 m) and Col de Cheilon (3,243 m) via a beautiful path. Then descent via Gietroz and Cheilon glaciers to spend the night at the Cabane des Dix refuge (2,928 m). Difference in altutide of + 780 m/ - 315 m.

Day 4
Pigne d’Arolla 3796m
Ascent of Pigne d’Arolla (3,796 m) via Tsena Riefen glacier, then Mur de la Serpentine and Col du Brenay. Nice descent to Vignettes hut (3,158 m). Difference in altitude of + 950 m / - 636 m.

Day 5
Col de l’Evèque 3392m
Departure from the hut to go down to Col de Chermotane (3,053 m), to climb back up to Col de l'Evêque (3,392 m) and go down the Arolla high glacier. You will climb to Plan Bertol (2,664 m) and to Bertol hut (3,311 m) via some steep snow slopes. Difference in height of - 105 m / + 339 m / - 728 m / + 647 m.

Day 6
Tête Blanche 3724m
From the hut you will go down to Col Bertol to climb the top of Mont Miné glacier. You will climb Tête Blanche (3,724 m) which offers a splendid view on Cervin. Then you will begin going down to Zermatt via Col de Valpelline (3,568 m), Stockji glacier and rocks, Zmutt glacier and its moraine, and night spent at Schonbiel hut (2,694 m). Difference in height of + 564 m / - 1,100 m.

Day 7
Arrival at Zermatt
From Schonbiel hut a nice and pleasant path leads to Zermatt (1,618 m) via Zmutt by crossing nice hamlets. You will come back to Tasch by train. Difference in height of – 1,070 m.

The elevations and walking times are approximate and may vary.

Depending on the weather and the skill of the participants, the guide may modify the program.

Requirements

Experience in basic mountaineering techniques is required (crampons, rope walking). This climb requires good physical preparation; it is intended for sporty people. This climb requires good physical preparation; it is intended for sporty people. You will have to walk for 6 to 9 hours per day, so you should prepare by practicing "cardio" during workouts. Endurance sports such as cycling, running or long walks are an ideal preparation.

Also remember that you will be hiking with an 8-kilo backpack, which significantly increases the effort required, so if you do go out, exercise with that extra weight.

You will evolve on an unmarked mountain route, you must be aware of the dangers associated with this activity (glacier crevasses, serac falls, rock falls, avalanches, very low temperatures).

Insurance

To be covered by an insurance «assistance-repatriation» is mandatory to participate in our stays. If you do not have «assistance-repatriation» insurance, we can offer you one at the price of €10 (€5/day). We also offer optional «cancellation» insurance at the price of €24 (€12/day). This insurance does not take into account the sporting character of our stays. More information in the cancellation and assistance repatriation insurance booklets.

Rendezvous

Appointment at 6.30 pm at the Saint-Gervais guides' office (in the tourist office of the village) where you will meet your guide. If you cannot be present, the briefing can be done by phone. More details about how to travel by public transportation can be found on our "contact" page.
