The Pointe Percée tour is one of the most beautiful hikes in the Mont Blanc region, among wild pastures with abundant wildlife, traditional and welcoming refuges at the foot of the summits of Aravis. Beautiful views of Mont Blanc! 3 days of change of scenery guaranteed as close as possible to the wild nature.

Program

The day before
appointment at 6:30 pm at the Guides office in Saint Gervais for the briefing.

Day 1
Refuge de Gramusset

We leave at the beginning of the day from Lanche car park to the Reposoir near the old Chartreuse. We then go up the comb to cross our first pass at 1925 m. Then we continue our ascent under the summit of Pointe Percée to reach the refuge of Gramusset at 2150 m in a sumptuous setting, end of the world atmosphere guaranteed.

H+ 1050m – walking time: 6h

Day 2
Refuge de Doran

We descend into the valley at the foot of the famous peaks of the Aravis, to go up one of the most beautiful valleys. At the top we change sides, Mont Blanc and its glaciers appear, we will then cross a landscape with multiple lakes. Another pass and here we are at the warm refuge of Doran. Pointe Percée overlooks us majestically...

H+ 950m/H- 850m – walking time: 6h.

Day 3
Coeur des Aravis

From the refuge we go up to cross a new pass with again a breathtaking panorama. Then we start the last descent above the village of Reposoir in the heart of sublime mountain pastures.

H+ 825m/H- 1200m – walking time: 4h.

The elevations and walking times are approximate and may vary.

Depending on the weather and the level of the participants, the guide may modify the program.

2024 dates

Departure scheduled for July 4 and August 22.
Other dates on request or for groups are possible depending on availability in the huts.

Guiding

10 people maximum per guide (12 for private groups)
You will be supervised by a hiking guide.
Departure from 6 people for the group sessions.

Requirements

For a hiker in good physical condition, with no medical contraindication to walking in the mountains, with a backpack. Ideal first experience of itinerant hiking.
Between 4 to 6 hours of walking per day on trails. Rocky and maybe even snowy surfaces are to be expected.
You will be carrying your personal belongings and picnics, the weight of the backpack should not exceed 8 kg (water included). Do not hesitate to contact us if you are not sure about the required physical capacities.

Insurance

Being covered by a "repatriation - assistance" insurance is mandatory to participate in our stays: it will have to cover you in the high mountains for search and rescue by helicopter outside the ski areas.
If you do not have «assistance-repatriation» insurance, we can offer you one at the price of €5 per day.
We also offer optional "cancellation" insurance at the rate of €12 per day.

Rendez-vous

The day before we meet up for a briefing where you will meet your guide and the group, we expect you at 18h30 at the guides' office at Saint Gervais, we can advise you for accommodation on site. Our address : 43 rue du Mont Blanc, 74170 Saint Gervais les Bains

If you are unable to attend, please call us around the same time so the briefing can be done by phone.

Equipment list

Clothing:

  • High shaft hiking shoes with notched sole (low shoes do not protect the ankle and are to be avoided)
  • Hiking socks
  • 1 shorts + 1 hiking pants
  • T-shirts (tip: avoid cotton - choose breathable, quick drying, synthetic material)
  • 1 fleece
  • 1 hooded waterproof jacket (breathable, Gore-Tex or equivalent)
  • cap or bob / sunglasses / sunscreen / lip stick
  • cap or headband / buff
  • fleece gloves
  • waterproof pants

 

Accessories:

  • comfortable backpack with belt and good carrying system (45L maximum) for the day
  • flask or camelbag (choose light materials or solid plastic bottles)
  • knife / spoon / cup
  • something to snack on: dried fruits (sweet/salty), cereal bars, ...
  • sleeping bag (covid 19 info)
  • mini hygiene kit: soap + lightweight towel + toothpaste + toothbrush + kleenex + wipes
  • plastic bags for garbage or to protect your stuff in case it rains
  • headlight (1 per 2 people, with fresh batteries)
  • 2 hiking poles (telescopic)
  • hydro-alcoholic gel
  • flip-flops or light sandals for the evening

 

Personal medication kit:

  • earplugs
  • bandages and bandages for blisters (type "compeed")
  • medicines for: pain and fever / digestive problems / anti-inflammatory

 

Other:

  • valid identity card or passport
  • change for drinks and other extras in huts (they often don’t have visa or other cards, provide enough cash)
  • INSURANCE: copy of your personal insurance covering the hiking activity (NAME insurer, policy number, procedure, and call number in case of emergency)

The weight of your backpack for the day should not exceed 6/8 kg. Keep room for lunches that will be provided to you each day.
