Detailed program for the ascent of Mont-Blanc by the Bionnassay ridge
The day before
Appointment at 6.30 pm at the guides' office.
Day 1
Durier Refuge
Departure from the Miage mountain pasture to the Plan Glacier refuge via the path along the moraine. After a coffee break at Plan Glacier, we will start the technical part with the passage of several foothills, the crossing of the Miage glacier and then the ascent of the Lancherons ridge which will lead us to the Col de Miage. Overnight stay in the fantastic Durier mountain hut (3389m) located on the pass, on the border of France and Italy.
Altitude difference: + 1840m – Approx. 6 hours
Day 2
Aiguille de Bionnassay – Mont-Blanc summit
Ascent of Aiguille de Bionnassay (4052m) via the southern ridge with snowy slopes and rocky passages, over the beautiful and snow-covered ridge to the Piton des Italiens. From there, we will follow the normal Italian route from Mont Blanc to the Dôme du Gouter (4304m) and then from the Vallot hut, up the majestic ridge “arête de Bosses”, to the summit of Mont Blanc. Descent to the Goûter refuge (3835m).
Ascent & Descent: +1700m/ - 1100m – About 9h-10 hours
Day 3
Goûter descent
Departure in the early morning to descend the ridge of the Aiguille du Goûter in the cool hours and reach Nid d'Aigle via Tête Rousse. Lunch in the hut or in the valley.
Elevation: - 1470 m - About 4 hours of walking.
The guides could be led to change the program depending on the weather conditions, the mountains and the level of the participants.

Le Mont-Blanc by the Bionnassay ridge is a sustained ridge climb that requires a good mountaineering experience. The climb requires a good training and is addressed to sports people. You’ll be walking for approx. 12 hours a day, so you’ll have to prepare and practice cardio during your endurance trainings. Endurance sports such as cycling, running or long walks are an ideal preparation.
And don't forget that you will be walking with an 8 kilo backpack for 3 days, which significantly increases the effort to be made, so during your outings, practice walking with this extra weight.
You will evolve on an unmarked mountain route, you must be aware of the dangers associated with this activity (glacier crevasses, serac falls, rock falls, avalanches, very low temperatures). We are at your disposal to answer your questions.
Max. 1 person per guide. You will be supervised by a mountain guide.
Being covered by repatriation insurance is mandatory to participate in our activities: it must cover you in the high mountains for helicopter search and rescue.
If you do not have repatriation insurance, we can offer it at a cost of €5/day. We also offer optional cancellation insurance at a rate of €12/day. This insurance does not take consider the sporting nature of our activities and only covers people domiciled in Western Europe (details of the countries are in the brochure).
