Sunday:
Rendezvous
at St Gervais. Transfer
to Les Contamines (1210m).
Bucolic variant by La Giettaz.
A long climb until early afternoon to the Bonhomme
mountain pass (2319m) and the Croix du Bonhomme (2443m), then
down into the Chapieux valley (1554m).
Overnight stay in a gite with gastronomic dinner.
Monday:
Visit
to the cheese factory in Les Glaciers to see the huge gold
coloured, round, flat slabs of the famous Alpine Beaufort.
Passage to Italy by the famous and historic Col de la
Seigne (2516m). Overnight
stay in a mountain refuge at the foot of the Lée Blanche
glacier (2195m). Grandiose
scenery.
Tuesday:
Descent
to Lake Combal and its numerous bends.
Optional variant by the magnificent glacial Lake Miage,
before the bus transfer from La Visaille to Val Ferret via
Courmayeur. Climb and
traverse of a high and little frequented balcony trail.
Surprising view of Mont-Blanc and its famous neighbours.
Magnificent stage of the trip.
Wednesday:
Passage
in the Swiss Val Ferret
by the Grand Col Ferret (2537m).
Bus or taxi transfer from Ferret (1700m) to Champex
(1480m). Short pause on the shores of the lake. Overnight stay in a gite in the rural setting of Val d’Arpette
(1627m).
Thursday:
The
Bovine meadow (1987m) or an Alpine variation
La Fenetre d’Arpette (2665m). Overnight
stay in a gite in the village of Trient (1275m).
Friday:
Return
to France by the Herbagères meadows and Col de Balme (2191m).
Striking
view of Mont-Blanc. Descent
into the village of Le Tour (1480m). Taxi transfer to St Gervais early afternoon.
Physical
condition and technical level:
In
good physical condition through the practice of an endurance
sport during the year, no medical contraindication against
hiking in the mountains, trained and having recent first
experience of hiking during the day in the mountains. Maximum 5-6 ½ hours walking per day on mountain trails.
